The course follows the preparation and preservation of drinking water from the source right to the last customer on the water system.
Training elements include source water characteristics, treatment targets and options, and many operational practices aimed at maintaining water quality throughout the supply infrastructure.
The training material focuses on new and emerging pathogens, and how these new threats are changing the way we operate both in the plants and among the pipes.
There is special attention to ‘biofilms’, as the course introduces new and disturbing information about the nature and threat levels of 'biofilm'.
The course draws from the recent ( 2006 ) recommendations of the National Academies Water Science and Technology Board on how drinking water systems should be managed and maintained.
The power point presentation is supported by 16 brief related videos.
